Originally from Hibbing, Jane Hileman is now the principal of St. Helena Catholic School in Minneapolis where she has served for the past 19 years. A parishioner of St. Helena Catholic Church since 1988, Hileman sent her three daughters to St. Helena Catholic School. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield and holds a master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University. Hileman taught middle school English at St. Helena before becoming principal.
Chosen from more than 800 Catholic school principals throughout the nation, Jane received one of 12 National Catholic Educational Association Distinguished Principal Awards in 2013. The award honors Catholic principals who demonstrate faith-filled leadership, dedication to academic excellence and strong relationships with parents and the local community.
“One of the greatest parts about serving this community for so long is that I am often affirmed by St. Helena’s success,” Hileman said. “Just think of all of the wonderful families that I have watched grow and flourish. Building relationships and educating the whole child — mind, body and heart — is a wonderful business to be in.”
