We are so excited to present Shine On – CSCOE’s inaugural Catholic elementary school talent competition! More than 140 students in grades 4-8 auditioned in January to land a spot in the final competition. Sixteen acts were selected representing the areas of dance, vocal and instrumental performance.
The students in these 16 acts received professional coaching lessons from Lundstrum Performing Arts premier training program in voice, dance and drama. The instructors are Broadway veterans and industry professionals with the expertise to guide students to launch professional careers.
Special guest emcee Matt Birk: Matt is a Catholic school graduate, former Minnesota Viking, and Super Bowl Champion. He is a great supporter of Catholic schools, and recently launched a program to promote athletics in our schools: 4HG Athletics. Matt also is a recently-turned standup comedian, having hosted the Do Good Comedy Tour earlier this year.
Special guest judges:
Fr. John Bauer, pastor at the Basilica of St. Mary. The Basilica offers several choirs, including children’s choirs that introduce youth to the rich liturgical tradition of the Catholic Church.
Andrea Hjelm, president of Moore Creative Talent, Inc. Andrea loves to volunteer in the community, and two of her favorite organizations she supports are the Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts and The Basilica of Saint Mary.
Kerry Casserly-Carter, Artistic Director at Lundstrum Performing Arts. Kerry is a 23-year Broadway veteran, who has performed in a number of Broadway shows. At Lundstrum, she guides the overall vision and coaches performers to hone their “triple-threat” skills.
GRAND PRIZE: The winner of the overall competition will receive a trip for four to New York City that includes tickets to a mutually agreed upon Broadway performance and a few other surprises!
